Life on Mars

Making the first series of Life on Mars was a revelation. I’d never reckoned much to cop stories before – and yet here I was, having the most fun, spinning cars and firing guns to David Bowie! It was proof of how little anyone really knows – we knew we were having great fun, but reckoned everyone would find the show too weird: and then it became the biggest hit of the decade.
